As the brand writer at AMC, I was responsible for dozens of marketing initiatives each year, spanning all their available media. From print and video, to web and even mobile push notifications, I was responsible for it all.
For 16 major releases every year, AMC puts out a movie themed drink from their in-theatre bar, MacGuffins. The challenge with this, is that sometimes the movie studios (mostly Disney) don’t want their movies associated with alcoholic beverages, so I had to dance around them without ever using any intellectual property. It was fun.
A travel site for booking Caribbean vacations, Cheap Caribbean always asked for off-the-wall, goofy ideas. I helped develop their humorous and cheesy tone, as well as their beach-loving spokesperson, Beach Gary. These videos ran on TV, Instagram and Facebook.
Club Med was trying to lure American skiers away from the Rockies, and into their cheaper, all-inclusive resorts in the Alps. To accomplish this, I penned cliche-laden breakup letters touting the benefits of Club Med.
As a student at Portfolio Center, I was tasked with creating a microsite and comprehensive campaign for bottom-shelf bourbon Evan Williams. The campaign revolves around the idea that whatever you're doing is stupid, and drinking with your friends is more important.
The National Potato Council represents potato farmers in the US, and they exist to get people to eat more potatoes. Potatoes are almost always side dishes, so to that end I had the idea to cast potatoes as famous movie side kicks. It's stinking cute.
